iBEX is the computer charting system used in the Emergency Department. Orientation to the charting system can be accessed below. At this time Medical Students are not allowed to chart in the iBEX system. Medical Students' access using iBEX is limited to viewing the tracking board to see which patients need to be seen, to check the medical records of the patients they are caring for and to check labs results.

A few terms you may see or hear while in the ED:

Code Yellow (previously Code 99) signifies a trauma patient has arrived (trauma team cares for these patients)
Code 60 signifies a patient has an acute MI and will probable go to the Cath Lab
Code 44 signifies a patient that is in critical condition has just arrived and needs physician attention immediately
Code 30 signifies a patient with an acute CVA has just arrived. (Called for patients with 3 hours of symptom onset who may be a candidate for TPA)
