The requirements for completion of the Emergency Medicine rotation at Advocate Christ Medical Center include the following items:
Note: Grades will only be submitted once student's requirements are completed and turned in at the end of the rotation.
Yellow Daily Evaluation sheets are given out to you at the start of your rotation by Ann. These yellow papers are to be given by you to the supervising physician you worked with at the end of your shift. These sheets are used to evaluate your performance during clinical shifts. Your rotation grade is based 60% on the results of these yellow sheets. It is critical for your grade that you distribute a form at the end of each shift.
The Procedure Log is a list of the procedures you directly observed or performed during your rotation in the ED. We recommend any procedures you participate in, you keep track of. This list will also need to be turned in on your last day.
Final exam and case presentations are discussed later.
Recommended Readings
NOTE: There is not a specific text book required for this rotations however there is a list of eMedicine articles that are recommended. The list is can be found under Lectures/Quizzes link on the home page or click here. The selection is divided up into 30 topics. The ideal goal is to have you read every day and cover a different topic. As this is a challenging amount of reading, the online quizzes are preferred. If you are comfortable with a topic, and perform well on that area on the quiz, skip the reading on that topic. You can then focus your reading in an area that is more appropriate for you.
